H. Skov Nielsen 86, Died Tuesday

H. Skov Nielsen passed away at the Memorial Community Hospital on October 16th, where he had been confined since Oct. 7th, following a fall at his home.

Mr. Nielsen was born in Jutland, Denmark August 28, 1876. He came to the United States at the age of 9 and his parents located in Nebraska. In 1893 he came to Blair to attend Blair High School and Dana College. After attending the Fremont Normal School he taught in public schools in Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin. From 1908 to 1920 he managed the Lutheran Publishing House. During the next ten years he was associated with the Blair Horse Collar Company, and then returned to various duties at the Publishing House, besides teaching Danish at Dana College. He retired from active work in January of 1961.

Mr. Nielsen was married to Anine K. Jensen near Orum on September 28, 1902 and it was the first marriage to take place in the First Lutheran Church building. They observed their 60th wedding anniversary last September.

He is survived by his wife, Anine; three daughters, Mrs. Bruce Melvin (Elna) of Greenbelt, Md., Mrs. A.T. Scheeley (Alyce) of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Dagney Hinton of Springfield, Minnesota; and a son, Harold, of Milwaukee. Also 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church on Friday, October 19th, at 2 p.m. The Rev. George Pallesen will officiate. The Bendorf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Clifford Madsen, P.V. Hansen, Henry Wolsmann, Norman Bansen, Marius Hansen and Rev. John Nielsen.
