James Nielsen Funeral Held

Farmer Near Blair Succumbs Three Months After Mother’s Death

James Nielsen, 60, lifetime Washington county resident who had owned and operated the same farm southwest of Blair for 40 years, died Monday. He had been in failing health for some time. His death followed by three months that of his mother, 78-year-old Mrs. Kate Nielsen.

Funeral services, with arrangements by the Bendorf Funeral Home, were held at First Lutheran church yesterday afternoon. The Rev. H.C. Jorgensen, pastor, officiated, being assisted by the Rev. R.E. Morton of Dana college. Interment followed in Blair cemetery.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nielsen, Sr., Mr. Nielsen was born near Fort Calhoun Jan. 26, 1886. As a youth, he attended Wranch and Brewster schools. He and Miss Agnes Andersen were married Jan. 22, 1913, and four children born to them.

Surviving Mr. Nielsen are his wife, Agnes; one son, Lloyd Nielsen of Blair; and three daughters, Mrs. Erma M. Taylor of Fremont, Miss Roma Nielsen of Omaha and Miss Darlene Nielsen of Blair. Also surviving are two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Hiltabidel (Anna) of Irvington, Mrs. Bertha O. Hall of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs, William Densmore (Marie) of Tekamah; and one brother, Andrew Nielsen of Blair. Mr. Nielsen’s mother died Jan. 27, 1946; his father died Oct. 3, 1896.

James W. Nielsen, prominent farmer living southwest of Blair, passed away at his home on Monday, April 1st, following a protracted illness.

Deceased was born near Calhoun on January 26, 1886, and attended the Wranch and later the Brewster school where he received his education.

On January 22, 1913, he was married to Miss Agnes Andersen and to them four children were born, Mrs. Erma M. Taylor of Fremont, Roma Nielsen of Omaha, and Lloyd and Darlene, of Blair. These with the wife are left to mourn his passing.

Besides the immediate family, deceased is survived by two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Hiltabidel of Irvington; Mrs. Bertha O. Hall of Kansas City, Missouri; and Mrs. William Densmore of Tekamah; also one brother, Andrew, of Blair.

Services were held at the First Lutheran church in Blair on Wednesday afternoon with Rev. H.C. Jorgensen, assisted by Rev. R.E. Morton of Dana College, officiating. Interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
