Dies While on Visit

Mrs. Kate Nielsen Stricken While Visiting In Kansas City

Only two weeks after she had gone to Kansas City to visit with Mrs. Bertha Hall, a daughter, 78-year-old Mrs. Katherine (Kate) Nielsen of Blair died suddenly Sunday. She had been in failing health.

The body was returned to Blair, and the funeral services, directed by the Bendorf Funeral Home, were held at First Lutheran church yesterday afternoon. The Rev. H.C. Jorgensen, pastor, officiated and the interment followed in Blair cemetery.

Mrs. Nielsen, as Katherine Beck, was born in Omaha, Mar. 3, 1867, and on Aug. 15, 1884, was married to Andrew Nielsen. He died Oct. 3, 1896. Mrs. Nielsen had spent practically her entire life in Washington county, as her parents had lived here prior to her marriage.

She was the mother of seven children, two of whom died in infancy. Surviving Mrs. Nielsen are two sons, James W. Nielsen and Andrew Nielsen, both of Blair; three daughters, Mrs. Anna Hitabidel of Irvington, Mrs. Marie Densmore of Tekamah and Mrs. Bertha Hall of Kansas City. Other survivors include a brother, Hans Beck of Blair; a sister, Mrs. Anna Beck of Fremont; 16 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

MRS. K. NIELSEN IS DEATH VICTIM

Mrs. Katherine (Kate) Nielsen passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Hall, in Kansas City on January 27th. Deceased was born in Omaha on March 4, 1867. She was married to Andrew Nielsen on August 15, 1884. Mr. Nielsen passed away on October 3, 1896. Mrs. Nielsen spent practically her entire life in Washington County, her parents living here, and during her marriage and widowhood she made her home here also.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Nielsen, two of them passing away in infancy. Those who grew to maturity and survive their mother are the two sons, James W. and Andrew, the three daughters, Mrs. Anna Hiltabidel, Mrs. Marie Densmore and Mrs. Bertha Hall; a brother, Hans Beck of Blair; a sister, Mrs. Anna Beck of Fremont; sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the First Lutheran church on January 30th with Rev. H. C. Jorgensen in charge of the service, and the Bendorf Funeral Home in charge of burial arrangements.
