Mrs. Marie Nielsen

Mrs. Marie Nielsen died of cancer of the stomach at 5:30 last Saturday morning at the home of Mrs. A. Johnson, who lives across the street west from the laundry corner. She had been sick for about eight months and had been unable to eat anything solid for some time. The funeral was held at the house by Rev. Halverson, of Omaha, at 10 o’clock Monday morning, and another brief service was held at St. Paul’s church near Orum. Burial was made in the *churchyard by the side of her husband, whose death occurred June 10th, 1900. She was born in Norway July 4th, 1840, and came to this country 37 years ago. She was married to Hans Peter Nielsen and they lived out on York Creek until his death. For the past three years she has made her home with Mrs. Johnson. She had no relatives in this country. Mr. Nielsen’s two sons, Chris and H.P. Chrisensen, of Omaha, were up for the funeral. He has a married daughter in Denmark. Mr. Nielsen willed the farm on York Creek to her and she willed it to his children.
