Mrs. C. B. Hansen, a resident of Blair for 28 years and a resident of Washington County since 1875, passed away last Saturday at the home of her daughter Mrs. H. J. Madsen. Mrs. Hansen had been in poor health for about a year.

Mrs. Hansen was born in Hadersleben, Germany, on February 2, 1866, and was, thereby, 88 years of age at her death. She came to this country with her parents in 1874, the family settling in Omaha. A year later the family came to Washington County and this area has been Mrs. Hansen's home since that time.

On March 27, 1885, Mrs. Hansen was married to Chris B. Hansen and the couple settled on a farm in the Kennard community. They continued farming until 1925 when they retired and moved to Blair. They purchased a house on east Washington Street and this place remained their home until Mr. Hansen's death in 1945. After Mr. Hansen's death, Mrs. Hansen made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Jacob on west Grant Street, but about a year ago, because of failing health, she went to live with her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mr. H. J. Madsen.

Mrs. Hansen was the mother of seven children, all of whom survive her passing. They are Mary (Mrs. Robert Andreasen) of Blair; Claudia (Mrs. Henry Weckback) of Omaha; Edna (Mrs. Blake Watson) of Omaha; Selma (Mrs. H. J. Madsen) of Blair; Lillian (Mrs. Ray Casey) of Gregory, South Dakota; Bert Hansen of Kennard; and Orvin Hansen, of Denver, Colorado. There are 27 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren who survive Mrs. Hansen.

Funeral services were held Monday at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating. Burial was made in the Kennard Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Service. Mrs. Hansen's pall bearers were six grandsons: Russell Casey, Carroll Hansen, Orville Andreasen, Paul Watson, Bob Watson, and Bob Madsen.

Burial: Kennard Cemetery, Kennard, Washington County, Nebraska, USA, Plot: Blk 5 Lt 37 Sp 4
