C. B. Hansen, 89 year old retired farmer, died at Methodist hospital on Sunday, less than a month after he and Mrs. Hansen had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon in the east Washington Street home and at First Lutheran Church of Blair, the Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating. Burial was in Kennard Cemetery.

Mr. Hansen was a medical patient in the Omaha hospital only a few days prior to his death. Born in Lindet, Jutland, Denmark, on Sept. 29, 1856, Mr. Hansen came to America and settled in Washington, early in Jan., 1882. On Mar. 27, 1885, he was married to Miss Christina Jensen. The couple engaged in farming until 1925, when they moved to Blair to live in retirement.

Left to mourn Mr. Hansen's passing are the widow; and seven children, Mrs. Mary Andreasen, Mrs. Claudia Weehbech and Mrs. Edna Watson of Omaha; Mrs. Harold J. Madsen of Blair; Mrs. Ray Casey of Gregory, S.D.; Bert Hansen of Kennard; Orvin of Denver, Colo. He also leaves 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and a half-brother, Peter J. Christensen of Elk City, Nebr.

Before the death of Mr. Hansen on April 15, only two members of this large family had passed away.

Early Settler And Successful Farmer Dies At 88 Years Of Age

C. B. Hansen of Blair died last Sunday following a short illness. Deceased was born in Denmark on September 29th, 1856, and came to American January 4th, 1882.

He settled in Washington County and on March 27th, 1885 was married to Miss Christina Jensen. They engaged in farming until 1925 when they retired and moved to Blair where they have since resided.

Just a few days before his death, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary, and the event was a very happy one. A few days after the celebration Mr. Hansen was taken ill and rushed to an Omaha hospital where he died last Sunday.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hansen - Mrs. Mary Andreasen, Mrs. Claudia Weckback and Mrs. Edna Watson, all of Omaha; Mrs. Selma Madsen of Blair; Mrs. Lillie Casey of Gregory, South Dakota; Bert of Kennard; and Orvin of Denver, Colorado - all of whom survive their father. Also surviving are twenty seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. These, with the wife, mourn deeply their great loss.

Funeral services were held last Tuesday at the home and at the First Lutheran church, and burial was made in the Kennard cemetery.
