#1 4 July, 1929 - Pilot-Tribune (there are two obits for Dr. Pruner in this paper) Dr. W. H. Pruner died at Lord Lister hospital in Omaha at 4:15 o’clock Wednesday morning of a hemorrhage. He suffered a stroke Tuesday night, and did not recover consciousness before he died. The deceased was born in Virginia and came with his parents to Kennard when he was a youth, and was reared in Washington county. He was married to Elizabeth Newkirk about twenty one years ago, and to this union two children were born. He was a graduate of the Creighton medical school, and for many years was an outstanding physician and surgeon of Omaha. Surviving him are his bereaved wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Pruner, a son, William H Pruner, Jr., and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth, all of Omaha. Three brothers and three sisters also survive him. MOURNS DEATH OF DR. PRUNER

The sad news of the sudden death at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday of Dr. W. H. Pruner of Omaha at the Lord Lister hospital was received at Kennard about noon that day. He suffered a stroke Tuesday night from which he did not regain consciousness. He had been ailing for about a week but had been seriously ill but a few hours.

Dr. Pruner was born in Virginia, coming to Kennard with his parents as a young boy. He graduated from the Kennard high school with the class of 1902, then attended the Creighton Medical school from which he graduated. Since that time he has been a prominent surgeon in Omaha and was a member of the John S. Bowen lodge, A. F. & A. M. of Kennard.

He is survived by his bereaved wife; a son, William Jr. and a daughter, Miss Mary Elizabeth; his mother, Mrs. Ella Sue Pruner of Cortez, Colorado; three brothers, Dr. A. C. Pruner of Omaha; O. S. and Gifford H. of Cortez, Colo.; and Mrs. Opie Harrison of Cortez, Colo.; and Mrs. Cleo Anderson of Lincoln besides a number of friends and nephews and scores of friends and acquaintances in Kennard and in Omaha.

Kennard friends of Dr. W. H. Pruner of Omaha were shocked last Wednesday to hear of his death that morning following a brief illness. Dr. Pruner was born in Virginia, coming to Nebraska with his parents as a small boy. He attended our schools, graduating from the high school in 1902, after which he attended medical college in Omaha, and began practicing there upon his graduation. He is survived by his wife, one son, William and one daughter, Mary Elizabeth, his mother, Mrs. Ella Sue Pruner of Cortez, Colo., three brothers, Dr. A. C. Pruner of Omaha, Dr. O. S. and Gifford H. Pruner of Cortez, Colo., three sisters, Mrs. Buena Vehrs and Mrs. Opie Harrison also of Cortez and Mrs. Cleo Anderson of Lincoln, several nieces and nephews and scores of friends and acquaintances. Funeral services were conducted at the home in Omaha Sunday afternoon with interment at the Kennard cemetery where the Kennard Masonic lodge had charge of the services. A large crowd of friends attended this service. We extend sympathy to the sorrowing family.
