Marilyn J. Bartosh, 85, of Fremont died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, surrounded by her family at home.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Dugan Funeral Chapel in Fremont with Chaplin Scott Jensen officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Dugan Funeral Chapel.

Marilyn was born Oct. 10, 1929, to Linley and Mary (French) Anderson in Missouri Valley, Iowa. When she was young, the family moved to Chicago for a few years.

They returned to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1947.

After high school, she attended Mercy College of Nursing, where she received a bachelor’s of nursing degree. She worked at AT&T and the Veterans Administration.

She met the love of her life, James Bartosh, in 1962, and married him Feb. 15, 1964. To this marriage were born Lori and Jim.

While raising her children, she was employed part time at the Dodge County Hospital, which then became the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Marilyn loved being with her family, and loved tending to her plants and flowers. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and was very proud to be a nurse. She loved animals, especially her beloved "Smokey.” Her grandchildren and great-grandchild were very special to her.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Bartosh; son Jim and wife Tammy Bartosh of Arlington; daughter Lori and husband Todd Hill of Fremont; sister Barbara Anderson of Fremont; grandchildren: Matt and wife Kara Hill, Nick Hill, Jacque Bartosh and Jake Bartosh; and great-grandchild Peyton Hill.

Memorials may be directed to the Dodge County Humane Society, and American Diabetes Association
