When it became known Tuesday morning that little Anna Siert, the only, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Siert, was dead, it spread a gloom over our little city. The schoolchildren, her classmates and playmates could not realize that her presence was forever gone. She was born October 12, 1896, ( ?) and was eleven years, seven months and twenty-four days old at time of her death. In July, 1896 she was first taken with heart trouble and was confined to her bed for three weeks with no good result. Mr. Siert proceeded then to Chicago where he found relief for her sufferings. She never became entirely well, but has been able to attend school quite regularly until last Friday when she became worse and was compelled to return home from the schoolroom. While she was not suffering seriously, yet she was uneasy, and Monday night, especially so. About five o’clock Tuesday morning she became worse, and her father went at once for medical assistance, but before he could return, she was gone. She was a favorite among not only her playmates but also among older people for she always had a kind word for everybody.

The funeral took place from the church yesterday afternoon at four o’clock and was largely attended.
