Ronald Christensen, 21, Killed In Car Accident Near Bennington

Ronald G. Christensen, 21, of Blair, was killed and David Hovendick, 21, of Herman, was seriously injured in a one car accident on Highway 36 between Omaha and Bennington Saturday evening.

Hovendick, driver of the car, was rushed to an Omaha hospital for treatment of head and internal injuries. His condition was reported as slightly improved. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hovendick of Herman.

The car westbound, reportedly went out of control when it hit a slippery stretch of highway on an “S” curve, traveled 282 feet along the embankment and crashed into a tree alongside the highway. The accident took place approximately three miles east of Bennington.

Funeral services for Mr. Christensen will be held Wednesday at two o’clock at the First Lutheran Church, the Rev. George Palleson officiating, with interment in Blair Cemetery.

Ronald Gregg Christensen was born Feb. 10, 1943 in Omaha. He is a 1961 graduate of Blair High School. He was active in the Blair High school Future Farmers of America Chapter.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tage Christensen; brothers, Curtis, Steven and Jeffery, and a sister, Tamara.

Pallbearers will be LeRoy Lorsch, Bill Andersen, Jim Andersen, Bill Biffer, Russ L?, Charles Elvers, Gordon Lippincott and Bob Matzen.

Campbell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
