Funeral Services Held In Blair For Mike Nielsen

Funeral services were Wednesday, October 29, at 3:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church for Mike Nielsen who died Monday morning in Blair. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Walter (Mike) Nielsen was born February 5, 1901, in Washington County to Soren Peter and Elizabeth Petersen Nielsen. He was married to the former Beatrice Ireland, who preceded him in death on September 9, 1967. He was in the shoe business, known as the Nelson Shoe Store, beginning September 28, 1940.

He was taken to the Blair Hospital Monday by the Blair Rescue Squad from the George A. Nelson home shortly before his brother’s funeral service. He died a short time later at the hospital.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jean Nona Kay of Arlington and Mrs. Ron Ann Pierson of Lincoln; one son, Wilfred Nielsen; and one daughter-in-law, DeAnna Nielsen. Grandchildren, Cindy, Alan and Lori Kay, Jon and Scott Piersen, and Erika and Nichols Nielsen; and one brother, Alfred Nelson of Blair, also survive him.

Pallbearers were Harry Beck, John Jensen, Kenny Larsen, Clark Lippincott, Bob Sheets and Jim Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Walt Petersen, Al Reeh and Al Warrick.

Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
