Philip H. Nielsen, 81 Blair native Philip H. Nielsen, 81, of Livermore, Calif., died Saturday, May 28, 2005, in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Brentwood (Calif.) Funeral Home with memorial service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Brentwood.

Philip Harlan Nielsen was born May 11, 1924, in Blair. He served in the U.S. Army and later purchased his parents’ farm near Blair. He farmed until 1960 when he and his family moved to Dublin, Calif. He was employed in the Millwright-Carpenters Union and retired at age 66.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, watching game shows, card playing and swap meets.

He was married to Lois A. Nielsen for 53 years; she preceded him in death in 2000.

He is survived by his three children, Jeffry Nielsen of Byron, Calif., Joel Nielsen of Twin Falls, Idaho and Jana and Sam Sturgeon of Sparks, Nev.; three granddaughters, one grandson; three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
