Randy L. Nielsen, 48

Former Arlington resident Randy L. Nielsen, 46, died Friday, June 21, 2002, as the result of an auto accident in Scotts Bluff County.

Funeral services were Tuesday, June 25, at First English Lutheran Church in Kimball, and Wednesday, June 26 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Interment was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Randy L. Nielsen was born Aug. 20, 1955, in Fremont to Lee and Carolyn Nielsen.

He grew up in Arlington and was a 1973 graduate of Arlington High School. He was a 1977 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and a 1980 graduate of UNL School of Law. He moved from Lincoln to Kimball in 1980, and had his own law firm in Kimball until the time of his death.

On Jan. 6, 1978, he married Nancy Wilkinson in Fremont.

He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church of Kimball, where he served on various committees. He was a member of a number of organizations including the Nebraska Bar Association, Kimball Country Club, where he served as treasurer for several years, the Cosmopolitan Club, the Lincoln Lions Club, and Masonic Lodge No. 294, A.F.&A.M. He also served as a member of Forward Kimball Industries, and was a former member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at UNL. He was active in softball, volleyball and golf leagues.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Christopher Nielsen of Kimball; daughter, Jessie Nielsen of Lincoln; parents, Lee and Carolyn Nielsen; brother, Tim Nielsen; grandmother, Alice Nielsen; and parents-in-law, Lloyd and Jerry Wilkinson, all of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bessie Miller and Chris A. Nielsen.

Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church, Fremont, or First English Lutheran Church, Kimball.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
