SOREN P. NIELSEN RITES TUESDAY

Soren Peter Nielsen, age 82 years, 11 months, died last Sunday morning, April 7th, at his home. His death came suddenly and was unexpected.

Born and reared in Denmark, he came to America in 1886 and settled on a farm west of Blair. On June 11, 1887, he was married to Elizabeth Petersen and to them six children were born, five of whom are still living. Alfred, George, Sadie, Niels and Walter. These with the wife and seven grandchildren are left to mourn his death.

Funeral rites were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 P.M. at the home and 2 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church.

In his early life the deceased was a prominent farmer in this county and made good at his chosen profession. He was a good neighbor and friend and was a real asset to the community in which he lived. He was civic-minded and took an active part in the doings of the community. He was especially interested in the school and was always ready to give a helping hand to make for the betterment of that civic necessity.

After moving to Blair he was engaged in the poultry business for a time but he gave it up, and in his declining years he took the ease and comfort which he had earned in his active years.

Out-of-town guests at the funeral included Peter Nielsen and wife, of Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hansen and Chris Hansen and daughter, Nora, of Hemmingford, Nebraska; and Dick Nelson, son of George Nelson and a grandson of the deceased, of Evansville, Indiana.
