Vernon H. Nielsen, 73

Funeral services for Vernon H. Nielsen, 73, were held Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, S.D. Interment was in the Spring Valley Lutheran Cemetery in rural Viborg, S.D.

Vernon H. Nielsen was born May 22, 1935, in rural Turner County near Viborg to Harold and Ruby Nielsen.

Mr. Nielsen was a Lutheran Brotherhood District representative for most of his career and was a member of Rotary International, serving as District Governor.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Sioux Falls; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Bob Neumayer and Mary and Todd McMartin, both of Omaha; four grandsons; and a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Fred Aman of Blair.
