Maria Nikolich, 94

Former Omaha resident Maria Nikolich, 94, of Blair, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Funeral services were Thursday, March 2, at the Herman Community Church, with interment at Omaha’s Calvary Cemetery.

Maria Nikolich was born March 24, 1911, in Stecova, Ukraine.

She married Milorad Nikolich in Germany after World War II. They immigrated to Brazil for seven years, then came to the United States on April 13, 1955, arriving in Boston. They came directly to Omaha, where Mrs. Nikolich lived until 1995, when she moved to Blair to live with her daughter, Rosa, for five years, before moving to Crowell Home in 2000.

Mrs. Nikolich worked in the housekeeping department at hospitals in Omaha. She loved to cook and work in her garden.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosa and Steve Peck of Blair; three grandsons and a great-grandson.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
