Funeral services for Bertha Nissen, 81, of Fremont, formerly of North Bend were Friday, December 1 at Bader-Rozanek Colonial Funeral Home. She died Tuesday, November 28, 1989 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County’s Skilled Care Center. She was a retired homemaker.

Bertha Schumacher was born February 25, 1908, in Holstein, Germany. She came to the United States in 1930.

She married Frank Nissen February 24, 1934, in Fremont. They farmed in the Nickerson and Arlington areas most of their married life until they retired from farming in 1954 and moved to Fremont.

He died July 5, 1978.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lee (Helene) Wehmeyer of Nickerson; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The Rev. Donald Levenhagen officiated.

Memorials have been established to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in North Bend.
