Jean John Nissen, 94

Jean John Nissen, 94, of Fremont, died May 7, 1999, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, at Sinai Lutheran Church. A graveside service and burial will be 2 p.m. on May 12, at Westlawn Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha.

Jean John Nissen was born March 11, 1905, in Schleige Holstein, Germany. At four years old, his family moved to North Bend, where he farmed with his brother, Frank.

He served in the U.S. Army for one year during World War II and was honorably discharge in 1952. He moved to Omaha in 1947, where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad.

On May 15, 1950, he married his first wife, Dorothy Herien in Omaha. She died Jan. 3, 1971.

He settled in Fremont in 1965 and on June 1, 1984, married Hulda Nissen at St. Patrick’s Church.

He was a member of Sinai Lutheran Church, a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 20 and Eagles Aerie 200 in Fremont. He also belonged to the Senior Citizen Center and played on a senior league bowling team.

He is survived by his wife, Hulda Nissen; stepson, William Coan and his wife, Pat, of Alamo, Texas; stepdaughter, Helen Christensen and her husband, John, of Fremont; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Frank, Adolph, Hugo and Henry Nissen; stepson, Leo Franklin Coan; and two sisters, Ida and Gretchen.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Rozanek and Son Colonial Chapel in Fremont are in charge of arrangements.
