Joe Nixon, 66

Services for Joe Nixon, 66 of Blair who died January 30, 1994 at Immanuel Medical Center after a brief illness following the discovery of cancer are 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 1 at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church in Fort Calhoun. Rev. Gale Prentice is officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Joe Nixon was born March 21, 1927 in Pontiac, Michigan.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He had farmed in Washington County since 1947.

He married Milly Stratbucker December 20, 1947.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post in Fort Calhoun.

He was a life-long member of Solomon Lodge No. 10, A.F & A.M. and of Naomi Chapter No. 121 Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ruth Nathan Nixon; one granddaughter; one grandson and a son-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Milly; a daughter, Karen Andersen; a son and his wife, Daniel and Bev Nixon; grandsons, Todd Andersen, Chad Nixon and Cory Nixon; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Marjorie Stratbucker; a nephew and nieces and two brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Richard Burmeister, Stan Stirek, Howard Barnes, Larry Stratbucker, Brent Wasenius and Bob Larsen.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
