Elizabeth Noble, 87

Services were Sun., Sept. 22 at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, Neb., for Elizabeth Noble, 87, who died at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Home in Albion Sept. 20, 1996. Rev. Larry Spomer officiated, followed by Eastern Star Services conducted by Easter Star Rose Chapter No. 102. Burial was Monday at Blair Cemetery.

Elizabeth Noble was born Sept. 6, 1909 at Blair to George Herbert and Edna Josephine Cantlin Noble. She was baptized at the Congregational Church in Blair by Rev. George McKeith in September, 1912. She was confirmed at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in March, 1923.

She graduated from Blair High School in 1927 and attended Dana College for two years. While in college she and her sister toured Denmark and other European points with the college choir. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and graduated in 1934 with a degree in music. She was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority.

She taught school in Craig, Neb. She then moved to Omaha, attended business school and worked as a secretary for the Federal Land Bank. In 1943, she moved to Los Angeles, Calif. with her mother where she became an escrow officer at the VanNuys Branch of Bank of America. She retired in 1964 to take a round-the-world trip with friends. In 1985, she moved to Albion due to failing health.

She volunteered for the Mustard Seed Association for the Blind and was a member of many organizations, including The Pilot Club, Business Women’s Organization of VanNuys, was a Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, a Worthy High Priestess of the Order of the White Shrine, regent of Achois Comihavit Chapter, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, North Hollywood, Calif., Chapter, the New England Women, Panorama Club of Republican Women, Sigma Kappa Sorority and of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by a sister, Jane Nore of Albion; cousins, Stephen and Carol Honey of Manassas, Va., Gary and Genelle Honey of Fremont; Mary Ann Veit of Grand Rapids, Mich., Marie Cantlin of St. Petersburg, Fla. And Errol Cantlin of Sidney, Australia.
