MRS. NOBLE GONE

Mrs. Hiram Noble, an old pioneer of this city died on last Saturday, August seventh at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Castetter, in this city, her death occurring just six weeks to the day and hour after that of her son, Herbert.

Mrs. Noble was born in Markham, Province of Ontario, Canada on Feb. 7, 1828 thus making her exactly eighty seven years and six months of age at her death.

Her husband preceded her to the great beyond four years ago last March after a brief illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Noble were married in Markham, Province of Ontario on November 5, 1850 and came to Iowa in 1871 settling at Onawa where they resided until they moved to Blair in 1882.

To this union were born seven children, two of whom, Mr. Ambrose Stewart Noble of Ogden and Mrs. Anna C. Castetter of Blair are the only ones living which with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren mourn the loss.

Mrs. Noble came from a line of ancestors all of whom were people who lived to an exceptionally good old age and were people of distinction in their home communities.

The last sickness was not of long duration but on account of her extreme old age and being discouraged on account of the recent death of her son, Herbert, she seems to have lost her desire to live on and when she passed away it seemed to be just fulfilling a desire to go and be at rest.

The funeral services were held on last Monday and the body interred in the Blair cemetery followed by a large number of warm friends who in this way showed their sympathy for the sorrowing relatives.

GRANDMA NOBLE

The death of Grandma Noble, which occurred last Saturday afternoon, was not unexpected by her family and near friends who were aware of her condition since the stroke of apoplexy of the previous week. The family came to Blair in 1882 and have resided here since. Few people were better known or more respected than the Nobles.

Deceased had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. F.M. Castetter of Grant street, since her husband's death. The funeral was held at her daughter's home, Rev. Kokjer officiating, the remains were laid to rest beside her husband and son in the Blair cemetery.

Deceased was 87 years of age, quite active physically and mentally until a few days prior to her death.

Mrs. H. Noble died at 1:45 last Saturday afternoon, having grown gradually weaker since the paralytic stroke on Friday of last week. The funeral was held at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. F.M. Castetter, at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. J.M. Kokjer officiating. The music was furnished by the full choir of the Congregational church, of which Mrs. Noble was a faithful and devoted member. Her death occurred just six weeks to the day and hour after the death of her son, Herbert T. Noble. Jane Ann Thompson was born in Markham, province of Ontario, Feb. 7th, 1828, and was therefore past 87 years of age. She was married there to Dr. Hiram Noble on Nov. 5, 1850, and they lived to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Dr. Noble's death occurred March 8th, 1911. Five sons and two daughters were born to them, of whom only Mrs. Anna Catherine Castetter, of this city, and Ambrose S. Noble, of Ogden, Utah, are now living. Their first born died in childhood, Frederick H. died in Alaska during the great rush to that country after gold was discovered, Edward S., the father of George H. of this city, died in this city Sept. 23rd, 1893, Theodore Parker died in Alegan, Mich., one year ago this spring and the death of Herbert T. is noted above. Since the death of her son, Herb, Mrs. Noble seemed to take little interest in life. They had always been such good companions, Herb having lived at home for so many years. She is now with him and with her husband and companion for almost 61 year of her long life on earth. She will be missed by the many friends who loved her for her sweet spirit and many virtues.
