Services Held Wednesday For Rolla Noel

A service of Remembrance was held for Rolla Ray Noel at Grace Methodist Church of Kennard on Wednesday, January 18, with interment in the Kennard Cemetery. The Rev. John E. Fritzmeier officiated and the Kennard American Legion took part in the ceremony at the cemetery. The American flag was presented to the family.

Rolla Ray Noel was born August 17, 1914 at Hartwick, Iowa. He passed away January 14, 1978, at St. Joseph Hospital, Denver, Colorado. He was a veteran of World War II and a charter member of the Kennard American Legion Post 366. He was a long time member of the Kennard Volunteer Fire Department and also served on the Village Board and also the School Board. He started to work for United Air Lines in June, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska and was transferred to Honolulu, Hawaii, in May, 1967. He retired June 1, 1977 due to ill health, moving to Colorado in July.

He was married July 10, 1945, to Wilma L. Bates at Hiawatha, Kansas, and to this union two children were born. Survivors are his wife, Wilma; a son, Robert Charles Noel of Pine, Colorado, and a daughter Mary Jane, Mrs. Larry Blake of Oak Harbor, Ohio, also two grandsons, Patrick and Curtis Noel, and three granddaughters, Tara and Nicole Blake and Sarah Noel. A brother, William H. Noel, of Grinnell, Iowa; two sisters, Mae Lyon of Bakersfield, California and Beulah Ladd of Blair, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Noel and two brothers, Lloyd Noel and Paul E. Noel.

Pallbearers at the service were Roscoe Anderson, Arnold Matzen, John W. Voss, Howard Cook, Kenneth Hunter, and Harlan Christensen. The ladies of the United Methodist Women served a luncheon at the church after the graveside service.
