Barbara A. Nohrenberg, 82

Barbara A. Nohrenberg, 82, of Blair, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair. Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 6, at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

Barbara Anne Hindley was born Feb. 7, 1924, in rural Blair to Lynn and Doris (Utterback) Hindley. She attended the McCarthy School and graduated from Blair High School in 1941.

On April 17, 1942, she married Pete Nohrenberg in Blair. The couple lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana while Mr. Nohrenberg served with the military.

After his return from the military, the couple moved back to Nebraska, where they farmed south of Blair for five years before moving to their farm in Herman. Mrs. Nohrenberg moved to Blair in 2002 and had lived in the assisted care facility at Crowell Memorial Home.

Mrs. Nohrenberg was a 4-H member and leader for many years; belonged to the extension club for more than 40 years; and was a charter member of the Golden Rod Grange in Herman. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and dressed many chickens for other people.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Ellen and Don Hammer of Herman, Sherida and Edward Vahle of Beaver City, Tera and Bob Bochik of Mt. Ida, Ark.; sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Patti Nohrenberg of Omaha, and Hunter and Linda Nohrenberg of Herman; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Carla and Mike Salsbury of Blair; sisters-in-law, Arlu Hindley of Blair and Marie Briggs of Aurora, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, in 1991; and a brother, Bob.

Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation or the donor’s choice.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
