Nohrenberg Funeral Held

Former Farmer, Blacksmith Was Born Here; Lifetime Resident

John Frederick Nohrenberg, 76, a retired farmer and former blacksmith, died Friday at Blair Hospital—the same building where, when he was a boy and it served as the old East School, he once attended classes. Native of the Blair community, he had spent virtually his entire life here. He had been making his home with his sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Nohrenberg, at 611 West Colfax St.

The funeral was held at the Bendorf Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday. Officiating was the Rev. H.C. Jorgensen of First Lutheran Church and burial followed in Blair Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leon Hindley, Frank Fishcr, Art Lorsch, Carl F. Kolterman and Virgil Hineline, all of Blair, and Chris Nohrenberg, a brother from Council Bluffs.

Son of Peter and Anna Butenschon Nohrenberg, pioneer countains, Mr. Nohrenberg was born on a farm west of Blair Dec. 27, 1875. He and Christine Thole of Filmore County were married in October, 1900. She died 30 years ago.

Mr. Nohrenberg is survived by two sons, Walter of Francis, Wash., and Rudolph of Pender, Nebr.; three grandchildren; and a brother, Chris of Council Bluffs, Ia.
