Peter J. Nohrenberg, 70

Funeral services for Pete Nohrenberg, age 70 of Herman, who died December 26, 1991 at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha after an apparent heart attack were held Monday, December 30 at First Lutheran Church. Military graveside services were conducted by the Jackson-Peck American Legion Post No. 274 of Herman, Nebraska.

Peter J. Nohrenberg was born September 17, 1921 in rural Blair, Nebraska to Hans Henry and Anna Klingenberg Nohrenberg. He attended rural elementary schools and graduated from Blair High School.

After his graduation he farmed until he was drafted into the Army Air Force in September of 1942. He served as an airplane mechanic until his discharge in February of 1946.

He married Barbara Hindley April 17, 1943 at Blair.

After his discharge to returned to farm with his father-in-law, Leon Hindley for five years. He also did custom farm work and worked at clearing trees at Dana College and on West Washington Street. In 1951, he bought a farm southwest of Herman and lived there until his death.

He was a charter member of the Goldenrod Grange in Herman. He also served as a school board member to the Thone School, District No. 21. He was a member of the Herman American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Sue Ellen Hammer, Raymond Nohrenberg and Hunter Nohrenberg, all of Herman; Sheridan Vahle, Beaver City, Nebraska and Tera Hansen, Ames, Iowa; six grandchildren, Daniel Vahle, Lincoln, Nebraska; Sean Nohrenberg, Fremont, Nebraska, Peter Hammer, Christopher Nohrenberg and Steven Nohrenberg, all of Herman, Nebraska and AnJanette Nohrenberg, Kaufman, Texas and three sisters, Emma Woodard, Omaha, Nebraska, Marie Briggs, Aurora, Colorado and Laura Lorsch, Blair, Nebraska.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
