Services Thursday for Norbeck

Funeral services will be held for 56 year old Weldon “Lucky” Norbeck on Thursday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fort Calhoun Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Warrick officiating. After fighting a never-ending battle with cancer, Weldon passed away on May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Weldon was born November 22, 1927 in Craig, Nebraska where he resided until the age of 17. At that time, Weldon enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his country during the 1940’s. After receiving an honorable discharge, Weldon married Sharon “Kitty” Bragg-Norbeck on August 12, 1945. The couple resided in Omaha, Nebraska where they raised their three children. In 1977, Weldon moved his family to Blair where he resided until his death.

Weldon is survived by his wife Sharon “Kitty”, two daughters, Linda Norbeck-Ryley and Cindi Norbeck, son-in-law, Gary Ryley St. and son-in-law to be Paul K. Christensen, three grand-children: Kim Ryley-Johnson, Gary Jr. and Jamie Ryley, one great-grandson, Chad Weldon Johnson, and a loving mother Ellen Norbeck of Craig, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his son Weldon Norbeck, Jr. in 1967.

A prayer service was held Wednesday, May 16th, 7:00 p.m. at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun. A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, Nebraska, immediately following funeral services.
