Nettie E. Nottleman, 96, of Blair, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24 at Blair. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery at Walthill.

Nettie Estella (Allen) Nottleman was born Nov. 24, 1904 in Walthill to James and Mary Jane Allen.

Mrs. Nottleman and her husband, Floyd, were farmers in the surrounding area from 1944 to the 1960s, when they retired and moved to the Hollostone area in Blair. Mrs. Nottleman was the cook at the old Blair Hospital until the new Memorial Community Hospital was built. She also was employed as a nurse’s aid at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home for 23 years.

After her retirement, Mrs. Nottleman volunteered at the nursing home. Mrs. Nottleman and her mother, Mary Gesch, started the Women’s Relief Corps in the Blair area. The Corps consisted of women who in some way were affiliated with the military. Their main concern was keeping in touch ? seas.

She is survived by her three children, Mary Ann Knutson of Ralston, Bonnie Stacey of Oran, Mo., Ron Ropken of Syersburg, Tenn., four step-children, Robert Collins of Dakota City, LaVone Zimmerman of South Sioux City, Eunice Wilson of Dakota City, and Melvin Nottleman of Wichita, Kan., 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, three brothers, Emmett, Charles, Waine Allen, two sisters Mable Kramer and Myrna Lydick.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
