Donald W. Steiner, 65

Donald W. Steiner, 65, died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, at his home in Blair.

Private family services will be at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Burial will be at a later date.

Donald Steiner was born June 12, 1949, in Omaha, to Laverne and Phyllis (Opitz) Steiner.

He served honorably in the United States Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2503 in Omaha and served with the color guard for 22 years.

Donald was employed with UPS as a regional manager for 27 years.

In 2002, he was united in marriage to Sherri Freel.

After his retirement, Donald moved to Yankton, S.D., and had recently moved back to Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Sherri Steiner of Blair; father Laverne Steiner; children: Pete (Allissa) Steiner of Wahoo, Sally Steiner of Omaha, Frank Steiner of Omaha, Amanda (Matt) Willimack of DeWitt, Iowa, Chris (Brent) Wieck of Omaha, Cherri (Mike) Yost of Blair, Charlotte (Aaron) Bartsch of Wichita, Kan., Candi (Rick) Milone of Omaha and Carolyn (Joe) Smith of Glenwood, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Barb Steiner of Omaha, John Steiner of Plentywood, Mont., Lois (Craig) Kipples of Albuquerque, N.M., and Gary (Melissa) Steiner of Omaha; brother- and sisters-in-law Steve (Pat) Freel of Oregon and Deanna Freel of Omaha.

Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Steiner; and wife Peggy (O’Connor) Steiner.

Memorials may be directed to the Yankton Pink Ladies, benefiting families battling cancer.
