Truck-car-truck crash kills 1

An 80-year-old Herman, Neb., man was killed Wednesday when his car was hit by a semitrailer truck and pushed into a stopped garbage truck on U.S. Highway 75 in Washington County.

Allen J. Cameron was turning north onto U.S. 75 about 9 a.m. when a southbound semi, driven by J. W. Graham, 29, of Valentine, Neb., pushed his car into the garbage truck.

Clint Brewer, 40, of Blair, Neb., was driving the garbage truck. Neither truck driver was injured.

Jack Cameron, 80 Jack Cameron, 80, of Herman, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, after being involved in an automobile accident in Herman. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Interment will be in the Herman Cemetery. Jack Cameron was born Sept. 14, 1926, on the family farm in rural Herman to Mack and Emma (Holstein) Cameron. He attended the Thone School and graduated from Herman High School.

He married Tootie Kuhlmann in Tekamah.

He farmed his entire life in the Herman area and recently received the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben “Pioneer Farm Family Award”, given to families owning the same farm land for 100 years or more.

He was a member of the Fremont Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Chatt Center in Tekamah, Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was a past board member of the New England School.

He enjoyed playing cards at the Chatt Center. He coached Little League baseball in Herman, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Vickie Cameron of Craig and Steve and Sarah Cameron of Lyons; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jonnie and Rob Andrew of Akron, Ohio, and Beverly Hansen of Tekamah; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sadie Hansen of Omaha and Hattie (Mrs. Harry) Andreasen of Kennard; a sister-in-law, Leah Mae Cameron; and special friend, Betty Gammel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tootie, in 1996; a brother, Bill; and sister, Joan Christiansen.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
