Mrs. Wm Kubie Dies Suddenly

Herman Woman, 55, Died Thursday At Fremont After Sudden Illness

Stricken suddenly ill while enroute to Fremont from her home in Herman last Wednesday, Mrs. William Kubie, 55, well-known Herman woman, died last Thursday night at Fremont. Mrs. Kubie suffered a stroke of paralysis while she and her husband were midway between Arlington and Fremont. Mr. Kubie took her to the Carl Carlberg home in Fremont, but she never recovered.

As Martha Charlotte Kruse, daughter of the late Jens and Mary Kruse, Mrs. Kubie was born January 30, 1885, in Schleswig, Holstein, now a part of Denmark. She spent her girlhood in Denmark, coming to Herman, Nebraska, in 1912, in company with Anna Andersen now Mrs. Pete Christensen of Herman.

She was married to Mr. Kubie February 19, 1913, and they have lived at Herman since then. In 1925 she made a trip back to Denmark for a visit with her parents, both of whom have since died.

A son, William, jr., was killed in an automobile accident in October 6, 1936. Surviving Mrs. Kubie are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Carlberg of Arlington; three sons, Kenneth of Fort Calhoun, Raymond of Minnesota and Harvey, 12, at home. There are two granddaughters. A sister and a niece reside in Denmark.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Herman Baptist church, the Rev. T. J. Reese of Jefferson, Iowa, former pastor of the Herman church, in charge. Pallbearers were Chris Korshoj, Frank Brodersen, Chris Vinderslev, T. K. Iverson, Mac Cameron and Clarence Wachter. Burial was in Herman cemetery.

MRS. WM. C. KUBIE DIES AT 55

Mrs. William C. Kubie, 55 year old Herman woman, passed away at Fremont at 9:55 last Thursday evening. She was taken ill only a few hours preceding her death, although she had been in failing health for more than four years.

Funeral services were held at the Herman Baptist church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with Rev. T. J. Reese of Jefferson, Iowa, a former pastor, officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Miss Dagmar Olson and Fred Robertson, accompanied by Mrs. G. F. Lowe. Burial was made in the Herman cemetery.

As Martha Charlotte Kruse, Mrs. Kubie was born January 30, 1885 at Schleswig-Holstein, Denmark to Jens and Mary Kruse. She spent her girlhood in her native land, coming to Herman in 1912 in company with Miss Anna Andersen, now Mrs. Pete Christensen of Herman; she had resided in Herman ever since, returning to Denmark only for a short visit with her parents in 1925.

On February 19, 1913 she was united in marriage to William C. Kubie, and to their union were born five children. She is survived by the husband; a daughter, Gertrude, now Mrs. Rolin Carlsberg of Arlington; and three sons, Kenneth of Fort Calhoun, Raymond of Minnesota, and Harvey, aged 12 at home. One son William, Jr. preceded his mother in death early in October, 1936 at the age of fourteen. A sister and a niece in Denmark and two granddaughters also survive Mrs. Kubie.
