K. L. Meredith Passes Away

Former Blair Resident Dies In Kansas Last Thursday

Kenneth Leslie “Tom” Meredith, son of William Walter and Ada Josephine Meredith, was born at Akron, Ia., May 30th, 1900, and passed away unexpectedly at Junction City, Kans., September 6th, 1945.

Mr. Meredith received his early education in the Akron Public Schools and at seventeen years of age he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving as Electrican’s Mate First Class during World War I at Plainsbeauz, France.

In 1919 he was honorably discharged from the Navy and entered the telephone service, which work he pursued until the time of his death.

Mr. Meredith was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, American Legion and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and for sixteen years he was member of the Blair Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, the former Fern Nicholson; two sons, 2d Lt. Thomas Keith in the Army Air Corps and Theodore Harrison in the Navy, somewhere in the Pacific; and three sisters Mona and Jean Meredith of Akron, Ia., and Mrs. Townsley Barber of Corona, Calif.

Funeral services were held in Blair Monday afternoon from the Bendorf Funeral Home with the Rev. D. D. Kennedy officiating. Internment was made in the Blair Cemetery.

KENNETH MEREDITH RITES HELD MONDAY

Kenneth Leslie Meredith, called Tom by relatives and friends, son of William Walter and Ada Josephine Meredith, was born at Akron, Iowa May 30th, 1900, and passed away at Junction City, Kansas September 6th, 1945.

Tom received his early education in the Akron public schools; at seventeen years of age he enlisted in the United States Navy serving as Electrician’s Mate First Class during World War I at Plainsbeauz, France. He was honorably discharged from the services in 1919. In the same year he entered the telephone service which work he pursued to the time of his death.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and an active member of the Blair Fire Department for sixteen years.

Deceased is survived by his wife, Fern, two sons, Second Lieut. Thomas Keith in the Army Air Corps, and Theodore Harrison in the U. S. Navy, somewhere in the Pacific; also three sisters, Mona and Jean Meredith of Akron, Iowa and Mrs. Townsley Barber of Corona, California.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Baptist church, and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.
