Dorothy "Lucille" Abshire, 93, of Arlington, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Arlington Community Church with the Rev. Lynn Martin and Pastor Bob Meanor officiating. Interment will be in the Arlington Cemetery.

Visitation began Thursday, but will also be held at the church one hour prior to services.

Dorothy Abshire was born Dec. 30, 1909, in Hamburg, Iowa, to Lee and Lydia (Minter) Brown. She grew up in Hamburg and graduated from Hamburg High School. She then moved to Omaha and graduated from Van Sant School of Business. She was a secretary at Alemite Lubrication Company for several years. She moved northeast of Arlington in 1941, and worked for a time for Marshall Nursery, and later at Valley Manufacturing Co. (Valmont). She had been residing at Crowell Home since September, 1996. She was a member of the Arlington Community Church.

On Dec. 25, 1929, she married Merrill A. "Bill" Abshire in Hamburg.

She is survived by two brothers, Willis Brown of Fremont and Ralph Brown of Omaha, and a sister-in-law, Murrillo Sterling of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; two brothers, Kenneth and Derrel brown, and a sister, Luella King.

Memorials are suggested to Arlington Community Church or Crowell Memorial Home.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
