Mrs. Anna Beck Died Tuesday

Mrs. Anna Beck, a resident of Blair many years ago, and who has resided at the Good Shepherd Home since September, 1958, passed away quietly at the Home on Tuesday, March 31st, at the age of 84 years.

Mrs. Beck was born Nov. 1, 1874 at Omaha to the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Beck. The family later moved to Washington County. On March 16, 1899 she was married to Anders N. Beck. They lived on a farm north of Blair. Three children were born to this union.

Following Mr. Beck’s death in 1902, Mrs. Beck served as head cook at Dana College for many years and was known to many of the students as “Mother Beck.” For the past few years she had made her home with her children. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Fremont.

She is survived by her son, Marcus Beck of Fremont; two daughters, Mrs. Kai Nyegaard (Laura) of Salem. Oregon and Mrs. Alfred Jensen (Agnes) of Milligan. Nebr. There are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A brother, Hans Beck of Blair, also survives.

Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Blair at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 4th. The Rev. A. V. Neve will officiate and the Campbell Mortuary will be in charge of arrangements. Burial will be made in Blair Cemetery.
