John Becklun Died At Tilden Hospital Sunday

John Becklun, a native of Blair who will be remembered by many of the older residents, died last Sunday, September 16th at the hospital at Tilden, Nebraska. He was the son of John and Ada Becklun, one-time farmers in the Rose Hill area west of Blair. He was 61 years of age.

He grew to manhood at Blair, and was graduated from the Blair High School. Following High School he attended Dana College at Blair.

In 1938 he married Mildred Pyle of Melbourne, Iowa. To this union a daughter and a son were born. Mrs. Becklun died in 1946.

On September 18, 1947, he married Mrs. Clara Smith. To this union one son was born.

Mr. Becklun was engaged in farming in the Blair area for a number of years, after which he worked for the Kelly Ryan Equipment Co. at Blair. In 1951 he moved to Loretto where he was in the farm implement business for several years. In 1957 he moved to Elgin and operated a drive-in restaurant after which he owned and operated the Elgin Feeders Supply until his retirement about two years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Clara of Elgin: his daughter: Lt. Joan Becklun. Port Huenenn, Naval Hospital, Oxnard, California; his sons; John J. Becklun of Omaha and Brian Becklun, of Elgin; 3 grandsons; two stepsons; John Smith of Albion and Robert Smith, Manhattan, Kansas; one half- sister; Mrs. Gertrude Culbertson, Chula Vista, California; other relatives and friends.

Services were conducted in Elgin Wednesday and interment followed in the Blair Cemetery.
