Hart DeVore Beebe, 93, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, died Oct. 30, 2001, at the Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley.

Funeral services were Nov. 3 at the Church of Christ in Missouri Valley, with Pastor Ron Wymer officiating. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Missouri Valley.

Hart DeVore Beebe was born Feb. 26, 1908, in Modale, Iowa, to George and Carrie (Middleton) Beebe. He graduated from Modale High School and spent one year at college in Ames.

He married his high school sweetheart, Opal Hillman, in Storm Lake, but did not tell anyone they were married for a whole month. In 1930, the couple moved to Missouri Valley, where they raised three children. The couple was married for 73 years.

Besides farming, Mr. Beebe was a ham radio operator, inventor and showed silent movies in Modale.

He is survived by his wife, Opal, sons and daughters-in-law, William H. and Eleanor Beebe of Modale, Ronald and Roma Beebe of Blair, a daughter and son-in-law, B. Joyce and Dick Fry of Council Bluffs, Iowa, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home of Missouri Valley was in charge of arrangements.
