MRS K. KASSEBAUM DIES AT ARLINGTON

Mrs. Katherine Kassebaum, 85, for many years a resident of Arlington and Fremont, died at the home of her son, Casper Kassebaum three miles northeast of Arlington Friday evening at 8:30. Death followed an illness of about two weeks partially due to old age.

Two weeks ago while walking about her room Mrs. Kassebaum had the misfortune to fall and was injured. Since that time she has been confined to her bed.

She was born on October 22, 1839, in Westphalen, Germany and came to America on August 16, 1887, settling in Arlington. The family lived in Arlington until her husband died twenty years ago. Sometime later Mrs. Kassebaum moved to Fremont where she lived for several years before going to Arlington again to live with her son, Casper.

She was a member of the Brown Creek St. Paul’s Lutheran church. She was very well known in Arlington and vicinity during her long residence there and had many friends in Fremont.

Surviving are five sons, John, Fremont; William, Fremont; Casper, Arlington; Fred, Stanton; and August, California; one daughter, Mrs. Hannah Fitzmeier, of Monticello, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs. Casper Miller, Hooper and Mrs. John Uelhling, California; and one brother, William in Germany.

Funeral services were held at the home of Casper Kassebaum at Arlington Monday morning at eleven o’clock and at the Brown Creek church at twelve o’clock. Rev. Wolters officiated. Interment was made in Ridge cemetery in Fremont.
