Viola Kassebaum, 88

Services for Viola Kassebaum, 88 of Arlington who died February 24, 1994 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Rev. Michael Rogers will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Viola Hilgenkamp Kassebaum was born March 21, 1905 in rural Arlington. She grew up and lived in rural Arlington until moving into Arlington in 1945. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Arlington and the Ladies’ Aid there.

She married Clarence Kassebaum March 21, 1928 in Arlington. He preceded her in death June 20, 1985.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Ahlmeyer Hilgenkamp; a brother, Clarence and a great-grandson, Jonathan J. Tedrow.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. Eugene) Jacobs of Arlington; two brothers, Edwin Hilgenkamp of Arlington and Leslie Hilgenkamp of Colon; a sister, Ethelleen Barth of Engelwood, Colorado, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Micky Jacobs, Jack Jacobs, Jerry Jacobs, Nate Tedrow, Darrell Hilgenkamp and Milton Hilgenkamp.

Helen Hilgenkamp is organist.

Memorials have been established to the church and Arlington Rescue Squad.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.

ARLINGTON – The funeral for Viola Kassebaum, 88, of Arlington will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington.

Kassebaum died Thursday, Feb. 24, 1994, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Viola Hilgenkamp was born March 21, 1905, in rural Arlington. She grew up and lived in rural Arlington as a homemaker until moving into Arlington in 1945.

She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Arlington and the ladies’ aid there.

Hilgenkamp married Clarence Kassebaum March 21, 1928, in Arlington. He died June 20, 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Jacobs of Arlington; two brothers, Edwin of Arlington and Leslie of Colon; a sister, Ethelleen Barth of Englewood, Colo.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother and a great-grandson.

The Rev. Michael Rogers will officiate Tuesday’s service. Visitation will be noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, both a Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington, and an hour before the service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the church and Arlington Rescue Squad.
