Alvin W. Katt, 76

Services for Alvin W. Katt, 76 of Arlington who died December 25, 1991 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont were Saturday, December 28 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Orum. Rev. Chris Beyer officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Alvin W. Katt was born October 19, 1915 at Arlington. He grew up on the family farm north of Arlington and moved into Arlington in 1975. He farmed until retiring in 1975. He then worked for Gnuse Construction Company of Arlington on a part-time basis.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Orum and served on the church board. He was a member of the Bisbee (District No. 42) School Board for many years. He was a charter member of Farm Bureau of Washington County.

He married Hazel Newkirk March 24, 1940 at Hooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Julia Meier Katt and a brother, Velmar Katt.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel, a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Rita Katt of Aurora, Nebraska; a daughter, Debra Katt of Arlington; a brother, Gilbert Katt of Tempe, Arizona; two sisters, Evelyn Nelson of Arlington and Madeline (Mrs. Ernest) Suess of Blair and three grandchildren, Robin Katt of Washington, D.C., Michael of San Diego, California and Catherine of Arlington.

Pallbearers were Michael Katt, Phillip Katt, Allan Sorensen, Gene Kay, Eugene Gnuse and Bruce Krueger.

Honorary pallbearers were Edward Gnuse, Milton Carlberg, Marion Skinner, Melvin Giesselmann, Robert Wulf and Larry Moravec.

Opal Jensen was organist. Jack Jensen was soloist.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alvin W. Katt

ARLINGTON – The funeral for Alvin W. Katt, 76, of Arlington will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Orum.

Mr. Katt died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1991, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County. He was a retired farmer.

He was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Arlington. He grew up there and worked on the family farm north of Arlington. He retired from farming and moved into Arlington in 1975. He then worked part-time for Gnuse Construction Co. of Arlington.

Mr. Katt was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Orum. He served on the church board and the Disstrict No. 42 (the former Bisbee School) school board for many years. He was a charter member of the Farm Bureau of Washington County.

He married Hazel Newkirk March 24, 1940, in Hooper. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Duane Katt of Aurora; a daughter, Debra Katt of Arlington; a brother, Gilbert of Tempe, Ariz.; two sisters, Evelyn Nelson of Arlington and Madeline (Mrs. Ernest) Suess of Blair; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

The Rev. Chris Beyer will officiate Saturday’s service. Visitation is in progress until 9 p.m. today at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington and an hour before the service at the church Saturday. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
