Hazel L. Katt, 81

Hazel L. Katt, 81, of Arlington, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services were Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum. The Rev. Robert Radermacher officiated. Burial was in the Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Hazel L. Katt was born March 24, 1918, to Edward and Laura (Nielsen) Newkirk in rural Arlington. She lived on a farm near Arlington until moving into Arlington on Dec. 15, 1975. She attended the Bisbee School District 42. She worked in the kitchen at the Arlington Public School.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Just For Fun Club in Arlington.

On March 24, 1940, she married Alvin W. Katt.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Rita Katt of Aurora; a daughter, Debra Katt of Arlington; two sisters, Opia Lee Hart and Helen Andersen, both of Blair; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died Dec. 25, 1991; three brothers, George, Guy and Clarence Newkirk; and three sisters, Mabel Foster, Ethel Skov and Pearl Buchardt.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ARLINGTON --- The funeral of Hazel L. Katt, 81, of Arlington will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum.

She died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Hazel Newkirk was born March 24, 1918 in rural Arlington. She lived on a farm near Arlington. She married Alvin Katt March 24, 1940, in Hooper. He died Dec. 25, 1991. She moved into Arlington on Dec. 15, 1975. She attended Bisbee School District 42. She worked in the kitchen at Arlington Public School.

Survivors include: a son, Duane (and wife, Rita) Katt of Aurora; a daughter, Debra Katt of Arlington; two sisters, Opia Hart and Helen Andersen, both of Blair; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

The Rev. Robert Rademacher will officiate Thursday’s service. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Wednesday at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington, and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

A memorial has been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum.
