Death Comes to Carl Kay

LONG A WASHINGTON COUNTY FARMER, MR. KAY WAS ILL SOME TIME

Carl Kay, 75, died Friday at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

A Washington County farmer for nearly a half-century, Mr. Kay was ill for some time before his death. Funeral services were Tuesday at the Hadan Mortuary at Bennington, the Rev. Robert Shirek of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Bennington officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery near Benson.

Mr. Kay came to Washington County from Germany in 1882, married Ida Moeller Mar. 18, 1903. The couple moved into their Washington County farm home near Bennington and still made their residence there at the time of Mr. Kay’s death. He had been ill for some time, and died at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

He is survived by his wife, Ida; three sons, Herman of Blair, Reuben of Benson Station and Irvin of Bennington; three daughters, Mrs. R.F. Thaden (Ella) of Omaha, Mrs. Arnold Ewoldt (Rose) of Benson Station and Miss Idean Kay of Hollywood, Calif, There are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also one brother, William Kay of Bennington.

Carl Kay’s son, Henry, operated the former Hank’s Tavern in Blair and was killed recently in an automobile accident at Fort Calhoun.
