FLOYD J. RUPPERT 92

Floyd J. Ruppert, 92, of Arlington, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services were Wednesday, June 2, at the Arlington Community Church, with the Rev. Lynn Martin officiating. A Masonic service was held Tuesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, led by the Masonic Lodge No. 132 A.F. & A.M. of Scribner. Interment was in the Hooper Cemetery.

Floyd J. Ruppert was born Aug. 3, 1911, in Scribner to Joseph and Etta (Lindgren) Ruppert. He grew up and attended schools in the Hooper and Scribner communities. He farmed at Ames, Scribner and Colon before moving to Fremont in 1952, when he became a farm manager for the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children.

In 1960, he worked for Midland Lutheran College for nine years, then worked at P & H Electric in Fremont until retiring in 1984.

He later moved to Arlington, where he lived until moving to Arbor Manor in September 2003.

On Feb. 12, 1934, he married Viola L. Walraven in Scribner. She preceded him in death in 1994.

Mr. Ruppert was a member of Arlington Community Church and was a former member of First Congregational Church UCC at Fremont.

The Eagles were an important part of Mr. Ruppert’s life. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 200 of Fremont, where he was past president, past district president, past West Central regional president, and served on many local, regional and national committees, as well as organizing four new aeries in Nebraska and one in Iowa. In 1970, he was recognized for his outstanding service to the Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund of the Eagles. In 1975 and 1976, he was named Nebraska Eagles “Father of the Year,” and was state membership chairman of the F.O.E. in 1976. He was the Eagles New Aerie Chairman for Nebraska and Iowa for five years. In 1990, Mr. and Mrs. Ruppert were given the honor of “Mr. and Mrs. Eagle of Aerie 200.” On June 30, 2002, Mr. Ruppert was voted into the Nebraska F.O.E. Hall of Fame.

He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 132 A.F. & A.M. of Scribner where he was past master in 1990 and the York Rite Masonic Bodies.

He is survived by his son, Duane Ruppert of Mesa, Ariz.; daughters and sons-in-law, Marian and Leonard Storm of Lincoln, Audrey and Dick Lindborg of Marysville, Wash., and Joyce and Charles Beauchamp of Mesa, Ariz.; brothers and sister-in-law, Reynold Ruppert of Anchorage, Alaska, and Eugene and Juanita Ruppert of Scribner; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; special friend, Virginia Maas of Arlington.

In addition to his wife, Viola, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Riley and Myrtle Ruppert; granddaughter, Cathy Storm; and sister-in-law, Hattie Ruppert.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Community Church or the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont.
