Ray Dean Moody, 73

Ray Dean Moody, 73, of Herman, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, in Linden Cemetery, Rock Port, Mo. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Ray Dean Moody was born May 4, 1941, in Rock Port, the son of John Wesley and Katie Annetta (Knierim) Moody.

He attended North Polk Country School and Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Mo., graduating in 1959.

On Nov. 22, 1963, Dean was united in marriage to Dorothy Arlene Olsen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westboro, Mo. They made their home in Omaha for 25 years before moving to Herman, where they lived to the present time.

Dean was a professional “stage hand.” He constructed permanent and temporary stages for high schools, colleges and concerts throughout the country. In Omaha, he installed theatre sets and stages at the Orpheum Theatre, Civic Auditorium and Ak-Sar-Ben.

For the past five years, he was employed with the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Dean was a former member of the South Omaha Eagles and of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees of the United States and Canada.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Arlene, of Herman; two sons: Larry Dean Moody and wife Carrie of Mead and Donald Dean Moody and wife Denell of Lincoln; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother John Donald Moody and wife Johnita of Rock Port; sister-in-law Annette Hess of Richland, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to the Dean Moody Memorial Fund.
