Helen L. Kearnes, 84

Helen L. Kearnes, 84, of Blair, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. Funeral services were Monday, March 3, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Chapel. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Helen L. Rosterman was born March 21, 1923, in Lyons to Henry and Christina (Hansen) Rosterman.

She worked in the 40’s in Chicago, Ill., doing domestic housekeeping. She was also employed at Richardson’s Company and the Mars Candy Company.

When she moved to Blair, she was employed for 18 years at Ole Olsen’s Tavern, where she was a popular barkeeper.

During her residence at Good Shepherd, she entertained other residents with her talent for yodeling and her good nature.

She is survived by two sisters, Goldie Fleury of Lake Charles, La., and Ruth Schoeman of Atlanta, Ga., and a brother, Robert Rosterman of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry, Donald and Arnold Rosterman, and sisters, Rose Halstead, Carrie Kephart and Norma Jean Rosterman.
