CHRIS STRUVE DIED SUNDAY AT FREMONT

BLAIR CONTRACTOR, 55, SUCCUMBS; WIFE AND TWO DAUGHTERS SURVIVE

Chris F. Struve, 55, Blair contractor who moved to Fremont only June 7th, died Sunday at Dodge County Hospital there. He had been confined in the hospital about ten days.

The Struve family left Blair last month after selling the Struve Home Laundry at 608 W. Nebraaska St. to Albert L. Dickerson.

Member of a prominent local family, Mr. Struve had been a carpenter and master bricklayer since his youth, having begun the trade as an apprentice to his father, the late J. Henry Struve.

The body was brought to the Fick Funeral Home in Blair, where a brief service was conducted at 1 p.m. yesterday. Further rites were held at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran church, Fremont, the Rev. Victor W. Hoffman officiating. Interment was in Fremont Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Stewart, Paul Kuhls, Earl Strenger, Clifford Krause, Dean Kempcke and Herman Struve, Jr.

BORN HERE IN 1892

Mr. Struve was born in Blair May 14, 1892. He attended the Blair schools. As a general contractor he had helped build many of Blair’s homes and business buildings.

He and Miss Lenda Stork were married Oct. 8, 1938. The family’s home since leaving Blair has been 1217 E. Sixth St., Fremont.

Surviving Mr. Struve are his widow, Lenda; two daughters, Marilynn, 7, and Suzanne, 4; a brother, Herman Struve of Wichita, Kan.; and two sisters, Mrs. Dora Pfeiffer of Blair and Mrs. Margaret Bivins of Wichita. Mr. Struve’s parents preceded him in death, as did a brother, M. Louie Struve, former Washington county assessor.

Chris F. Struve, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Henry Struve was born in Blair, Nebraska on May 14, 1892. He attended Blair City Schools and as a young man adopted the profession of his father as bricklayer and contractor. Practically his entire life was spent in construction work in Blair and other Nebraska cities and towns.

He was married to Miss Lenda Stork on October 8, 1938, and two daughters, Marilynn and Suzanne were his chief interests in life.

On June 7, 1947 the family moved to Fremont, Nebraska, and within a very short time thereafter he entered the Dodge County Hospital where he passed away on July 6, 1947.

Left to mourn his death are his wife Lenda and two daughters, Marilyn and Suzanne, two sisters Mrs. E. W. Pfeiffer of Blair and Mrs. Asa J. Bivens of Wichita, Kansas and one brother, Herman H. Struve of Wichita, Kansas. An older brother, M. Louis Struve preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at one o’clock from the Fick Memorial home in Blair and at three o’clock from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, and interment was made in the Fremont Park Memorial with Rev. Victor Hoffman officiating.
