LEONARD ANTHONY, 89

Leonard Anthony, 89, of Fremont, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Arbor Manor Living Center.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at St. James Episcopal Church, with the Rev. K. Andrea Jones officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Leonard Anthony was born Sept. 15, 1914, in Cedar Bluffs. He was raised and went to school in Cedar Bluffs. He worked in the Fremont area and, at an early age, started driving trucks. One of his first jobs was driving at the ordnance plant in Mead. After that, he became an over-the-road truck driver, which was his occupation for more than 40 years.

On July 29, 1936, he married Evelyn Ladd in Papillion. She died in March 1968. On Oct. 10, 1969, he married Doris Dixon in Fremont.

Mr. Anthony was a member of the Eagles F.O.E. 200 for more than 50 years, and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Fremont; four sons and daughters-in-law, Leon Anthony of Firth, Donald and Kathy Anthony of Tekamah, Myron and Geri Anthony of Omaha, and Lloyd “Rocky” and Karen Anthony of Gretna; sour stepsons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Dixon of Omaha; Scott and Kathy Dixon of Salina, Kan., Tyler and Lynda Dixon of Goodyear, Ariz.; and Matthew Dixon of Fremont; stepdaughter of son-in-law, Beth and Steve Mincer of Omaha; two sisters, Vera Anderson of Utah, and Elaine Anderson of Arizona; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and one stepson.

Memorials are suggested to St. James Episcopal Church and the Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice program.

Lattin-Dugan Chambers Funeral Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
