Lea Maria Schmidt, 106, of Fremont, formerly of Arlington, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Nye Point Health and Rehab in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington. The Rev. Rick Kanoy and Rev. Jason Duley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lea was born Dec. 13, 1908, in Arlington to Henry W. and Anna M. (Stork) Walkenhorst.

Lea married Leo Schmidt on Sept. 19, 1930, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington. Leo preceded Lea in death on Jan. 22, 1981.

Lea lived in rural Arlington from 1908 until 1999. She moved into Arlington and lived there until 2008, when she moved to Fremont.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington and was a former member of the St. Paul’s Ladies Aid.

She is survived by four nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo Schmidt; brothers: Lawrence Walkenhorst and Alvin Walkenhorst; sisters: Henrietta Walkenhorst and Alice and husband Alfred Scheer.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
