Grace Keim

Services for Grace Keim, 81, of Valhaven Nursing Home in Valley, who died February 7, 1986 at Methodist Hospital, were held on Monday, February 10, at the Campbell Funeral Home in Blair. The Rev Leland Foreman officiated and burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Keim was born January 26, 1905, the daughter of Elmer and Kate Carpenter of Fontanelle. She attended Wayne State College and Omaha University and then went on to teach school in rural Douglas County and in the Sand Hills.

She married Harold Strenger in 1933. After their marriage they operated the General Store and Post Office in Fontanelle until her husband’s death in 1951. The couple had four children.

In 1953, she moved to Omaha and married Linfield Keim. They lived in Valley and rural Blair until his death in 1973. Mrs. Keim lived in Blair until moved to Valhaven Nursing Home in Valley in 1981.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Catherine) Dein of Blair; two sons, Howard Strenger of Anchorage, Alaska, and James Strenger of Fremont; one sister, Vira McDonald of Portland, Oregon; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one son, Henry; five brothers, Donovan, Delmar, Dexter, Kenneth and James Carpenter.

Pallbearers were Jeff Bowser, John Dein, Wayne Dein, Glenn Dein, Tom Dein and John Strenger.

Organist was Jean Foreman.

Campbell Funeral Home of Blair was in charge of arrangements.
