Mrs. Frank Kelly Dies in Dakota

Will Return Body to Kennard for Burial

Mrs. Frank Kelly, a former well-known resident of Kennard, died at her home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Monday, May 9, according to a message received by Washington county relatives. Although only in her 40’s, Mrs. Kelly had been ill for some time and for several days preceding her death her condition was so critical that her recovery was not expected.

Mrs. Kelley, before her marriage, was Miss Lena Kinley, daughter of a well-known Kennard family. Her husband and two children survive her.

Funeral services will be held at Sioux Falls and the body will then be brought to the Elmer Wright home at Kennard, prior to its burial in the Kennard cemetery Thursday at two o’clock. Mrs. Kelly was a sister of Mrs. Elmer Wright.

Mrs. Lena Ethel Kenelly Kelley, wife of Frank R. Kelley of 805 South Main Ave., died at 8:30 o'clock Monday night at a local hospital. She was ill two weeks with pneumonia. Mrs. Kelley lived in Sioux Falls for 21 years, coming here from Fremont, Neb.

Mrs. Kelley was born at New Haven, Conn., on March 27, 1887, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kenelly of that place. When she was a child she came west with her parents and lived in Iowa, Nebraska, and at points on the Pacific coast, before coming to South Dakota. She was married to Frank R. Kelley at Canton in September, 1924.

Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Patrician Ann Kelley, 6, and Miss Jean Weed, by a former marriage; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Wright of Kennard, Neb., and Mrs. Amelia Waechter of Los Angeles; and one brother, Frank T. Kenelly of Hollywood, Calif. Mrs. Wright is in the city at the present time as also is a sister-in-law. Mrs. Sidney Drew of Marshall, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Calvary Cathedral. Dean E. B. Woodruff will be in charge. Wednesday night the body will be taken to Kennard, Neb., where interment will be made. There will be prayer services at the grave. The Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Note: Lena's maiden name was spelled Keneley not as in obituaries above. Her last name is spelled Kelley on her tombstone. She is buried in Blk 3 Lot 18 Sp 5 in the Kennard Cemetery.
