Shirley L. Kellogg, 78

Shirley L. Kellogg, 78 of West Point, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point.

Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 14, at Trinity Church in West Point with the Rev. J.C. Browne officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.

Shirley Lillian Kellogg was born Jan. 25, 1925, at Austin, Minn., to Carlton and Lillian (Cox) Annable. She grew up in Sioux City, Iowa, where she graduated from Central High School in January, 1943. She also graduated from a business college and worked at the Armor Packing Plant in Sioux City.

On April 19, 1947, she married Jack Kellogg at Sioux City. The family moved to West Point in 1969, where Mrs. Kellogg was an Avon Representative.

She was a member of Trinity Church, Afternoon Guild, St Francis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, West Point Civic Club, Trinity Quilters, and Just A Stitch quilt clubs. She volunteered at St. Francis Memorial Hospital’s outpatient desk and Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-on-law, Barbara Kellogg and David Pettit of Eureka Springs, Ark., and Elizabeth and Daniel Adams of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Deborah Kellogg of Blair; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carlene and Bert Tagstrom of Sioux City, Lois Bengston of Medford, Ore., Nancy Bailey of Des Moines, Iowa, and Gail and Len Froyen of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and four grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, and a sister, Virginia Chambers.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Church or St. Francis Memorial Hospital.

Stalp Funeral Home in West Point was in charge of arrangements.
