Mrs. Elizabeth Kelly died at her home in Dexterville at 2 o’clock last Wednesday morning of asthma and other complications. The funeral was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic church at 10 o’clock, with Father O’Driscoll celebrant, Father M.J. Barry, of Florence, deacon, Father Cooney, of Holy Family church in Omaha, assistant deacon, and Father Burke, of Emerson, master of ceremonies. High mass was sung by the choir and Father Glauba and Leslie Dick, of Omaha. Elizabeth Fogerty was born in Richmond, Canada, Feb. 23rd, 1843, and was therefore nearly 75 years of age. She was married to David Kelly at Richmond in 1875, moving to Iowa the following year. They came to this city in 1891 and Mr. Kelly died June 15th, 1893. She leaves one step-son, Wm. Kelly, two sons, John, of Central City and David, of Lewiston, Idaho. Also three daughters, Kate, Mary and Elizabeth, all of this city. Three children died in infancy. The pallbearers were: Jas. E. Maher, E.M. Beaty, Paxton Ware, Thos. Finnell and S.W. Chambers, of this city, and John McEvoy of Adairm Ia. Those present at the funeral from out of town were: Will Adams, John Walsh and Fred Lowe of Missouri Valley, Dr. R.D. and Thos. M. McEvoy, of Mondamin, Ia., Phillip M. McEvoy of Anita, Ia., John McEvoy, of Adair, Ia., and Miss Lizzie McMahon of Omaha.

Mrs. Elizabeth Kelly Passed Away December 12th

The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Kelly occurred December 12, 1917, at her home in Dexterville where she has resided for nearly a quarter of a century. Elizabeth Fogerty was born in Richmond, Canada, February 23, 1843, and was therefore 74 years of age at the time of her demise. She was married to David Kelly at Richmond, Canada, in the year 1875, and a short time after moved to a farm southwest of Missouri Valley, Ia. The family moved to Blair in 1891 and two years later Mr. Kelly died leaving his widow and six children as follows: Willian Kelly, a son by Mr. Kelly’s first marriage, Kate, Mary, and Elizabeth, of Blair, John of Central City, Nebr., and David of Lewiston, Idaho. Three other children died in infancy. Since her husband’s death Mrs. Kelly and her children, lived in Blair and their home was kept intact by the devoted mother, who was never very robust in health.

She was a good mother and neighbor and will be greatly missed by her family and friends and neighbors. Her children in her declining years gave her every care possible and some of her last conscious words were that her children had done everything possible for her comfort.

The funeral services were held from the Catholic Church at 10 o’clock Saturday morning and were in charge of Father O’Driscoll, who acted as celebrant, Rev. Father M. J. Barrett of Florence acted as deacon. Rev. Father Cooney of Holy Family Church of Omaha, assistant and Rev. Father Burke of Emerson, Master of Ceremonies. The choir sand a solemn Requiem High Mass, the parts carried by Rev. Father Gluaba and A. Leslie Dick of Omaha. Thus, every honor in the power of her church were bestowed upon this good Christian mother. The pallbearers James E. Maher, John McEvoy, of Adrian, Iowa, Mark Beaty, Paxton Ware Thos. Finnell, and S. W. Chambers

A large number of out of town friends and old neighbors were present and the floral tributes were many and beautiful. A lare cortege accompanied the mourning family to the local cemetery where their mother was tenderly laid to rest.
